Early last year I announced that I was looking at moving on a lot of my memorabilia now that much of it had been photographed and added to my website. What I didn’t realise was just how much time and effort can go into making something like that happen and being so busy with the band meant I just didn’t have that time. Then, this year I saw that Peter Hook, one of my mates from Manchester, was doing exactly what I wanted to do but with his Joy Division collection… he was letting it go back to the fans. + A SONIC TEMPLE + So, after a long time waiting we are back doing what I love best and that’s playing live. Last weekend we played the first A SONIC TEMPLE shows and judging by the response we received I can tell it’s going to be special. The core of the set focuses on Sonic Temple but we feel that the ‘playing a whole album’ format is a bit jaded and even back in the day of the original tour we never did every song as with any album some tracks are more suited to the live experience. What this… Read the full article.
More live shows… Since I was last in touch there has been a whole bunch of new shows announced with The Cult for May and June going out under the banner ‘A Sonic Temple’.With it being a couple of months away the set list isn’t finalised but expect to hear some of those album tracks that haven’t been played live in quite a while!I’ve been following the ‘addicts’ posts about the tour and appreciate it’s a bit frustrating when you don’t see your country or town appear in these dates but rest assured we are working on more for the… Read the full article.
Another year almost over and time for my final news update of 2018… so without further ado here’s a review of my year which you can check out here… A LOOK BACK AT TWENTY EIGHTEEN… _ A Night at the Theatre… I usually try to get back to the UK over the holiday period to catch up with family and friends and occasionally the stars align to allow me to get involved in jamming with mates. This happened earlier this month when Theatre of Hate were touring and had a show at Manchester University. Those of you who know my musical… Read the full article.
Since my last news update I’ve taken the opportunity of it being a ‘downtime’ in my day job with The Cult to experience some of the most wondeful areas of the world… all right here close to my home on the West coast. I went on two journeys… the first by motorbike and the second on foot and each have give me memories to last for the rest of my life. I’m sharing each story now on my website with plenty of photos for you to enjoy too… On My Bike… Back in the summer I hatched a plan with… Read the full article.
There’s a Revolution, yeah… It’s been a really busy couple of months since I was last in touch as I’ve been with The Cult taking part in the Revolution 3 tour along with Stone Temple Pilots and Bush. The concept, created in conjunction Live Nation, was to have three great bands play arena shows with each one playing for 1 hour and revolving the running order. It sounds a bit complicated but with a great bunch of guys behind the scenes (for all three bands) it soon got into a groove. What was great for us all was the opportunity… Read the full article.
. Well, I’ve had a great few weeks since my last update including some fantastic shows and amazing experiences re-living some of my childhood passions… read on… Last minute show… At the start of the year I had planned to spend the whole of June back in the UK and doing some promotion work in prep for the headline show at Rambin’ Man but we were offered a great show headlining a night at the San Diego County Fair on 13th. Most of the time our shows are planned months in advance but very occasionally one like this will come… Read the full article.
Tour news… more dates added… Since I was last in touch 7 more dates have been added to the Revolution 3 triple headliner tour that sees The Cult heading out with with both Stone Temple Pilots and Bush. That brings it to a total of 27 shows across the whole of North America this summer… plus we’re doing two shows in the US on our own and two dates in Europe including our headline slot at Ramblin’ Man Festival in the UK. We’ve also played a couple of one off shows including Rock n Roar at the Toyota Rally at Long Beach… Read the full article.
There’s a Revolution coming … As I’ve been hinting at for a while there was a whole bunch of live shows being lined up for this year but it can take time to get organised. What I couldn’t share was the reason this tour was so much more complicated was because it’s a triple headliner that sees The Cult heading out across the US both Sone Temple Pilots AND Bush! I think now you’ll understand why it’s been so complicated getting sorted and Tom (our manager) said “Just emails for this tour is 7500, not to mention calls, meetings, etc. …even getting… Read the full article.
Moving home & moving on ‘Memory-billy-a’… Well, we’re a couple of months into the year and it probably seems like I’ve had my feet up as it’s been all quiet on the “west coast” front 😉 Actually, despite not being out there ‘work wise’ I’ve been super busy on a personal front as I’ve been moving home. I’ve not moved far (pretty close to my old place actually) but anyone who has been through this will know it’s one of life’s major hassles. One thing it really does is make you take stock of all your “stuff” as you sort… Read the full article.
