So we’re not even out of January yet and its already hotting up to be a storming year!…. Back at NAMM I guess I’m pretty lucky to have one of the world’s best music gear shows so close to home so this month saw my annual trip back to NAMM and chance to hang with some of my pals in the business. Obviously we need to start with Grestch and the recent launch of my Signature Black Falcon. I couldn’t have dreamed a few years ago that I could have the honour of one signature model and now I have… Read the full article.
2015 has been really busy even if I haven’t played as many shows as in previous years. JANUARY kicked off with my annual visit to NAMM, which is one of the biggest music trade shows in the world and held here in California. It was a great chance to start plans for two new exciting signature projects…a Dunlop Billy Duffy Cry Baby and the Billy Duffy Gretsch Black Falcon… but more about that later! Another January highlight was that I also got to play a gig with Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and Butch Trucks of the Allman Brothers band at a show in… Read the full article.
The band was on fire on throughout the Primal Cult tour and lots of people have said it was the best sound we’ve ever had! Damon Fox does an amazing job on keyboards (and second guitar) and I think that it’s changed the emphasis of the band a bit to create a more mature sound reminiscent of the Sonic Temple and Ceremony era tours. It also allows us to take more chances with the arrangements live and make the whole show much more dynamic as a result. Grant Fitzpatrick also joined us on bass and as a kid in Australia… Read the full article.

Creating a new old beauty… During the making of the new Cult album I saw a guitar the Gord Miller (from GM Vintage Renovations) had worked on for Bob Rock and loved it. Whist I loved the sound and playability of the ’58 (created by the Gibson Custom Shop) that was sitting right there in the studio I wanted to make the guitar really look like it was over 50 years old. I also wanted to add the reproduction period hardware to it that initially I had decided not to do when it was made at the custom shop….. so… Read the full article.
Lots of ‘new’ old stuff… When I was back home in the UK recently I spent some time in the attic sorting through my stuff and found lots of interesting Cult photos and items a from back in the day. Already online are a stack of my Tour Books, Passes, Posters and loads of photos… I’ve added my own memories alongside the pics so I’m sure you’ll enjoy seeing them. Hey, the last couple of weeks have been really busy as after finishing up recording on the album I had the Kings of Chaos charity show in San Francisco in support of the ‘Dolphin Project’. Here’s a few pics that I took during rehearsals… At the actual show the ‘house’ band featured Matt Sorum on Drums, Duff McKagen on Bass and Gilby Clarke on guitar and I got to play “Fire Woman” with Myles Kennedy on vocals, “Love Removal Machine” with Sammy Hagar and then join the whole band for the finale of “Rock & Roll” and “Paradise City”. It… Read the full article.
