This book of song music and lyrics was published in 1993 to coincide with the release of the “Pure Cult” (Greatest Hits) album.
For hundreds of years composers had their music published on paper so people could play it for themselves in music halls, hotels, pubs, bars, wherever.
The writers and publishers of the music would then get paid for the sales of the sheet music.
In the 1980s, when we got going, it was still “a thing” and we participated pretty much in the end of an era of when printed music for “popular” music was pretty much replaced by the internet and YouTube as the go to method of learning songs.
One side note… you can also see that for the Words & Music I’m listed as William Duffy as opposed to Billy … as my songwriting credit is a “legal” status hence my full name.”
