"Being a fellow ‘Blue’ photographer Kevin Cummins had invited ‘Lakey’ and ‘Brighty’ (Manchester City players Paul Lake and Ian Brightwell) along to our show with Guns n Roses at Milton Keynes Bowl in May 1993.
It was the beginning of a friendship that endures to today and especially with Paul who sorted it for me and Ian Astbury to ”train” on the hallowed Maine Road pitch with him and then afterwards “Skip” Tony Book came out, like the gent he is, and gave me Paul Rocastle’s City shirt !!!!
I have to say City’s old ground at Maine Road was a massive, massive field and I actually ended up playing a charity game there for Lakey’s Testimonial in 1997 and man you could see the curve of the earth it was so huge!”
