“After the Love album was so successful in the UK, we got more and more requests to do promotional stuff. Record Mirror was more of a ‘pop/lightweight’ publication of the time, but as we were managed by a company that had its roots in PR it’s not surprising, we did so much diverse publicity.
This Flexi Disc was cover mounted on the issue that came out October 3rd 1987 and RM had a tradition of doing these old school flexi discs which were more of a feature of the 1970s so I thought it pretty charming in 1987… plus, it’s mono which is even a more traditional 1960s approach!
The flexi is single sided 33 ⅓ RPM and featured a version of “Wildflower” plus an extract from the interview with me and Ian that was done by journalist Andy Stickland. The “previously unavailable mix” of “Wildflower” was from the “Manor Sessions” we did with “Love” producer Steve Brown, in 1986, before we rerecorded the whole album with Rick Rubin to be released as “Electric”.”
