“This memento is from when we opened for Simple Minds at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow on June 7th 1986.
It was a strange show as we ended up performing dodging the missiles thrown from the few un enlightened ‘Minds’ fans who were not quite yet ready for the early ‘Electric’ era full fat rock n roll of The Cult at that time...maybe they just still hated the English ;)
Anyhow it all calmed down when Ian sang a few lines of “Flower of Scotland” and reminded the crowd half his family is from Glasgow and he did live there for a while!
It was great to recently play again with the Minds in Valencia, Spain and have a catch up with Jim and Charlie...total gents and a great band...”
