“This photo shoot with Andrew McPherson was our first with him (I think) and very successful it was too. All credit to Ian for suggesting a fashion photographer rather than the usual "rock" type.
Sadly, it was the first of many where there were "only three" of us as we didn’t have a drummer when this was taken at the live album sessions at Jacobs Studios in Hampshire.
Back in those days when photographers were shooting on film they would print the negatives direct onto photo paper to create “contact sheets” which would enable you to pick the shots you liked best (and rule out ones you didn’t like).
You can see the writing and x’s in white to indicate the LP shot to be enlarged and printed for the album designer to do their magic.
As for my style, I was pretty proud of my psychedelic biker look, even though it took a while to put all that stuff on… and yup leather trousers were very acceptable in 1985 😉”
