Ibanez Tube Screamer TS808 Pedal

Until Billy recently added the Lovepedal Kalamazoo to his Pedal Board the Ibanez Tube Screamer was his Overdrive pedal of choice and it still plays a key part in his sound.
For more than a quarter century, the Ibanez Tube Screamer has captivated players as the first name in overdrive pedals. With a distinctive sound and high quality construction, the Tube Screamer is the pedal the legends love. Ibanez continues to set the standard with all its compact effects pedals.

“Originally I used The Boss Super Overdrive ‘cos as it was given to me by Jamie Stewart when he joined Death Cult on bass in 1983. He had been a guitar player in the band Ritual so he handed me his pedals and said “I won’t be needing these anymore you should have them”. One of these was The Boss Super Overdrive which is their version of a ‘Tube Screamer’.
Later on I got the ‘Tube Screamer’ and used to switch between the two. The danger of the overdrives though is that whilst you get the lovely overdrive sound, which is like a hot amplifier, they make your sound too thin. So guys started to modify their pedals to make them sound even better, adding more bass to the sound. My Tube Screamers now have now been modified very simply but I use them for a slightly different kind of overdrive, for example in ‘Rain’ or ‘Sanctuary’ I use the Tube Screamer as my overdrive whereas on heavier Cult songs I use the Kalamazoo.”
